Over the last 30 years, we have been lucky enough to travel to more than a hundred countries and stay in endless hotels of every different calibre. It is against this background that we have selected the 26 resorts and boats featured in this book. As keen divers, we are continually thinking about where to go next, and it seemed to us that whilst there are plenty of beautiful books with stunning underwater images, not one told you exactly where they were or how you experienced them for yourself. We set out to remedy this, and to do so in some style. It’s been a long haul, but during our research we looked at hundreds of potential resorts, and once we had a short list, that became shorter still after visiting and finding the reality often failed to live up to either their website or the hype. None of the final 26 has paid to be in this book, it is genuinely a meritocracy.
Their continued inclusion is also based on feedback from guests who travel with our partners - award-winning travel company Original Travel, and as a consequence we are the first to know if a hotel no longer fulfills its promise. Don’t be surprised to see resorts dropped from the Original Travel website or flagged up on the Dive in Style blog. The contents of the book may not change for a year or two, but the information online remains up to date.
